This is a statue of Thomas Francis Weagher, one of Waterford's favorite sons. A very interesting character, he was the mayor's son in Waterford, studied in England, became a revolutionary in Tipperary, Convicted and exiled to Tasmania, was a writer in Costa Rica, Union Army Brigadier General in New York, and governor of Montana.
