We were entering Masseria Il Frantoio, an historic farmhouse dating from the 1500’s. It is now a family owned boutique luxury hotel, as well as a producer of organic olive oil. It comprises 70 hectares (173 acres) of olive groves and poppy fields, white washed walls with pink bougainvillea vines, and 1000 year old olive trees.
