This tower used to be the main entrance, with a draw bridge over a moat below. During Medieval times (11th century) it was a fortress which was modified and expanded over the years. It had a complete rebuild in the 12th century, and again in the 15th century, and many of its buildings date to the 16th and 17th centuries. Lots of changes going on here!
